Sun Oven Testimonial

I just wanted to let you people know that I have a SunOven that I got new in the box at a yard sale back in 2010. Since then, we have used it on *many* occasions. We have cooked everything from chicken leg quarters and potato wedges, roast pork, whole chickens, baked fish, chili, soups, breads, eggs and bacon (special procedure for these two), deer chili and roast and lots of other things. We use that thing on a very regular basis even to this day, regardless of emergency or not. It is good to use it regularly so you learn what you can. . . and can’t. . . do in it.
All in all, of all of the things I have ever bought, and particularly for cooking, that has been the absolute best investment, hands down, for cooking, and especially in a SHTF scenario. Luckily, we have never had to use it in an emergency scenario, but I am extremely glad to have it just in case.
I remember one time when my sister, who at that time was a nurse (She is now a PHd. and professor of nursing) came in from out of state to spend a few days with us. On one of the days, we decided to roast a chicken to serve for dinner. Being a nurse, obviously, she was worried about that SunOven getting that chicken done enough to eat. Several times during the cook, she would go over to it and look. She’d then ask if I was sure that chicken was going to be done and all. She was really worried about it!
So, come time to eat, I went and got the pot out of the SunOven and brought it to the table and I told her to get her head over close to the pot and I pulled the lid and let the steam just roll out and fill her face (far enough away to not get burned but close enough for effect (that is always fun to do)). After that, I said.”watch this!” and reached in and grabbed the breast bone and pulled most of the bones right out and the meat just fell off! After that, she was just in AWE that the SunOven would roast a chicken like that! And she said that it was the best tasting roasted chicken she had ever eaten.
She watched that chicken go from frozen to done in just about an hour and a half! And all we added was some salt and pepper. The rest came from the chicken itself.
Please feel free to use this story as a testimony to the fun and effectiveness of cooking with a SunOven.
Thank you for listening and have a GREAT DAY
