Among the many good things about hanging out with other solar cooks are all the tricks you’ll pick up.
At the solar potluck last weekend a GSO user named Emily had a a scrumptious looking pan of scalloped potatoes bubbling away. I could see them because the pan was in an oven bag. I’ve used oven bags in my GSO for whole turkeys, but I’d never thought of using them to cover a rectangular, or other odd shaped, pan. I’m sure I’ll continue to use my tin foil plus tea towel method that I talked about in a previous post, I’m not in the habit of keeping oven bags in the house and I suspect foil is less expensive, but for those dishes that I want to keep an eye on the see-through bags are the way to go.
