The best way to tell if your GSO® is properly focused is to look at the shadows. Start by standing behind it, aim the front towards the sun and place it so the shadows are even on both sides, then tilt the oven until the shadows made by the lateral reflector panels are aligned with the front wooden rim of the oven. Adjust the rear leg to hold the correct position. As the cooking time progresses you’ll need to make minor adjustments, turning the oven and raising or lowering the back leg, every 30 minutes or so. You’ll find that you’ll need to tilt the GSO® more during the winter months. In the summer, when the sun is higher in the sky, you probably won’t need to tilt it at all during the middle of the day. If you’re going to be away while your food is cooking, aim the GSO® towards where the sun will be at during its strongest time (between 10 am and 2 pm).
