I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the main reason I cook in my GSO is flavor. Sure, I originally purchased it for all the usual reasons, save money, save energy, etc. but even if there were a tax on sunlight, I’d still use it because it just makes food taste better. Beets are proof of that. In my pre-solar cooking days I rarely cooked beets. They’re messy and take forever to cook. I didn’t like them enough to put up with all the fuss. Well, the GSO changed my opinion of the humble root vegetable and it now makes frequent appearances on our dinner table. The GSO not only makes them easy to prepare, it makes them taste better too.

Global Sun Oven Roasted Beets




Scrub beets under cold water. Place in a dark, light-weight, lidded pot large enough to hold the beets without crowding them. Cover and place in GSO. Cook until tender. Peel.
