This roast is easy to make and packs a lot of flavor. It’s also easy to personalize; use wine instead of vinegar, throw in some mushrooms, add a little garlic, try different herbs – you get the idea. Make it your own.

Sun Oven Bottom Round Roast


3 onions, sliced

1 (3 pound) bottom round roast

Salt and pepper to taste

1 bay leaf

1 tablespoon white vinegar

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

2/3 cup water


Set Global Sun Oven out to preheat.

Put the onions in a pot large enough to hold the roast. Season roast with salt and pepper. Place the roast on the onions in the pot. Add bay leaf and vinegar. Cover and place in GSO. Cook until the meat is tender, about 4 hours.

Remove pot from Global Sun Oven. Remove roast from pot and place on a platter. Mix the flour into the water and pour into the drippings from the roast. Simmer over medium high heat, stirring frequently, until thickened.

Make 4 to 6 servings.
