It’s hard to believe it was only four years ago that I first discovered solar cooking when I spotted a tiny flyer advertising a solar cook-off in Flagstaff, AZ. Until that moment I thought solar cooking meant frying an egg on a hot sidewalk. I was about to be proven very wrong.

A few months after reading that flyer I was the proud owner of a brand new Sun Oven. By then I’d done extensive research into various solar cookers, attended a solar cook-off in Bisbee, AZ, and even flirted with the insanely unrealistic – considering my total lack of handyman skills – idea of building one myself. I was ready to start cooking.

I can honestly say it was love at first bite. The power of the sun enhances the flavors of everything it touches. The things that originally attracted me to the Sun Oven, lower power bills, clean energy, emergency preparedness, now seem to be merely a bonus. The Sun Oven® not only produces mouthwatering good meals, it is easy to use and incredibly convenient.

My Sun Oven has become an integral part of my kitchen. I’ve used it to prepare countless meals and baked goods, with surprisingly few culinary disasters.
